Welcome to Marking Period #2


Many of you started the year off on the right foot and I hope that this continues through the rest of the school year. A few of you will need to make some adjustments to your academic routine in order to achieve your goals.

Alg2/Trig: Graphing Calculator usage is critically important, Make sure you are learning these techniques and know when and how to apply them.

Algebra B: 3 ways to solve a SOE can you explain them in your own words

Alg2/Trig: Please bring your textbooks to class on Monday and complete the review assignment for chapter 2

Algebra B: More Systems of Equations by graphing, Remember we can't forget about slopes and line equations. Complete the worksheet that is provided.

Alg2/Trig: Don't get hung up on Piecewise defined functions and Greatest Integer Functions. For right now be you need to be able to identify them and know what they look like. Think big picture, can you differentiate between different families of functions (ie, linear, quadratic, absolute value, etc.)? There are many resources available to help solidify your understanding of these more abstract topics check out the following links.

Many of the topics we discuss are just a Google search away. Using technology can be a great way to gain different perspectives or learn about the applications of many of these topics. The internet is also a great way to stay connected to the class if you are out sick.

Algebra B: TEST CORRECTIONS, all of us need to complete the test corrections. Results need to improve for everyone. The test corrections are your opportunity to make up for poor performance on the Linear Equations test.

At this point I hope all of my students have been able to track down a 3 ring binder to keep track of their class materials and that they have their syllabus signed. We are starting the year off with some review material and all of my classes have been moving along quite nicely. I would just like to say thanks to all the parents and students for starting another year off on the right foot.
